Burton Elementary School has accepted the ‘Books for Bikes Reading Challenge’ again this year from Hiram Lodge #6, FAM. They are challenging our students to read as many books as they can in a two (2) week period. In exchange, students will receive a ballot for every book they complete.  Books read at home and at school will be counted. Yes, even RAZ-Kids books count! The challenge will run from April 17 to May 1st, with all ballots being due no later than May 2nd. On May 9th, 2023, six bikes will be up for grabs!  A draw will be done for two (2) bikes per class.  The more ballots a student has in the box, the better their chances!  Ballots will come home so that parents can help their children log their reading at home. Ballots returned from home after May 2nd will not be accepted. Throughout the school day, students will be responsible for filling out their own ballot.

This year students will be allowed to fill out a ballot for a friend. If your child has a new bike or just feels generous, they can put a classmate’s name on their ballot instead. A helmet will also be provided with each bike thanks to monies provided by the community bottle trailer.

For those students that are jumping in and reading chapter books, one ballot for every four (4) chapters read will be counted as a book.

Best of luck to all students!
